The Soup to Soup 55km Ultra Walk, stretching from London Victoria to Chatham, has been a heartfelt initiative supporting One Big Family Medway, a local homeless charity, for the past eight years. What began as a modest group of six volunteers blossomed into a dedicated family of over 50 participants. On Saturday, 5 October 2024, Fraternitas Lodge proudly fielded a team of 10 members, partners, and family, ranging in age from 22 to 64. Among the participants was Naushabah Khan, MP for Gillingham and Rainham, showing her support for the cause.
The journey kicked off at 9 p.m., and after pushing through the night, we crossed the finish line in Chatham by midday the following day. It was physically painful, mentally exhausting, and truly challenging. Yet, in spite of the hardships, we all crossed the finish line in high spirits, sharing a profound sense of achievement, both individually and as a team. The unity and support among us were unwavering, as we stuck together, encouraging each other to the very end.
In fact, the total distance covered was 61km, not 55km, and we collectively raised over £3,000 for One Big Family Medway—an accomplishment that fills us with immense pride.
