Brethren of Fraternitas Lodge No. 6046 recently came together to support a truly heartfelt cause, helping a remarkable young girl achieve her very special birthday wish.
Amelia, from Rowley Regis near Halesowen, has been bravely battling Neuroblastoma, a rare childhood cancer, since 2020. After years of treatment and incredible courage, she is now receiving palliative care. For her 8th birthday on 3rd March 2026, Amelia’s wish is beautifully simple and inspiring, to break the UK record by receiving more than 8,000 birthday cards.
A Wonderful Response in the Lodge
At our meeting on 14th February 2026, the Brethren were given the opportunity to take part in this remarkable initiative, thanks to WBro Paul Buckingham of Manor of Gillingham Lodge, who very kindly provided the birthday cards for us.
The response from the members of Fraternitas Lodge was immediate. The Brethren were all keen to get involved and support Amelia in achieving her wish, and it was uplifting to see so many taking the time to complete cards with personal messages of kindness, encouragement and birthday cheer.
This simple act captured the true spirit of our Lodge, Brethren united in friendship and charity, taking the opportunity to make a difference in the life of a young girl and her family.
Freemasonry in Action
While our meetings are central to our Masonic journey, it is moments such as these that demonstrate Freemasonry at its very best. Supporting Amelia’s wish allowed us to look beyond ourselves and be part of something that has brought together the wider Masonic family and the community as a whole.
We are grateful to WBro Paul for enabling us to play our part in this national effort and proud that Fraternitas Lodge could contribute to such a meaningful cause.
