Fraternitas Lodge No. 6046 Supports SERV with Generous Donation

On the evening of Tuesday 15th July 2025, members of Fraternitas Lodge No. 6046 gathered in a spirit of charity and community to present a cheque totalling £500 to SERV Kent – Service by Emergency Rider Volunteers. The donation was made up of £250 from Fraternitas Lodge No. 6046 and £250 match funding from the Cornwallis East Kent Freemasons’ Charity. The cheque was presented by WBro James Hagger, with the donation gratefully accepted on behalf of SERV by Trevor Sayer – Events & Fundraising Coordinator, in recognition of the vital and often life-saving work that SERV provides across the region.

SERV is a registered charity run entirely by volunteers. Operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, they provide a rapid-response courier service delivering blood, blood products, medical samples, medications, and donor breast milk between hospitals and healthcare sites. Importantly, they also ensure the timely supply of blood products to the Kent, Surrey, and Sussex Air Ambulance crews, enabling emergency transfusions to be administered at the scene of serious incidents. This essential service supports critical care pathways, saves lives, and reduces pressure on NHS resources.

SERV volunteer members have now handled over 60,000 calls since the service began in Kent in 1993 and are currently averaging around 6,300 calls every year. Their dedicated riders and drivers operate under the motto “Riding for Life”, ensuring urgent medical needs are met promptly and reliably, no matter the hour or weather conditions.

SERV rely entirely on donations for their income. Your support is very important to them, and this donation will certainly help their volunteers continue providing services to local communities—whenever and wherever they are needed.

More about SERV and their operations can be found on their website: www.servkent.org

The presentation took place at SERV’s head office at Farthing Corner, Rainham, where a SERV representative accepted the donation and shared insights into the charity’s work, its growing need for volunteer support, and the far-reaching impact it has across Kent and the surrounding counties.

In attendance were:

From SERV were Trevor Sayer – Events & Fundraising Coordinator, Hugh Curtis – Office Manager & Quartermaster, Malcolm Gunton, William Phillips, Andy Martin, Tim Atkinson, Des Cross and Andy Ratcliffe and from The Fraterntias Lodge No 6046 were WBro James Hagger and WBro Andrew Price

Fraternitas would also like to express sincere thanks to the Cornwallis East Kent Freemasons’ Charity for their generous match funding and for the straightforward and accessible application process which made this support possible.
